ziwoxolo Maklima was born in 1981 in Engcobo, a town in the former Transkei region of Eastern Cape.
He started his foundation studies towards a Fine Art diploma at the Tshwane University of Technology. He then obtained his qualifications finishing a B-Tech in Fine Art at Walter Sisulu University in East London Eastern Cape.
Mziwoxolo is now based in East London, where he works as a visual artist. He is also employed on a part-time basis as a lecturer at the Walter Sisulu University where he lectures in drawing, painting and printmaking.
